Ann has a Private Practice Clinic in Chesham where she offers Integrative CBT Counselling and Psychotherapy.
She is a Registered Psychotherapy and CBT Provider for private health insurance companies such as BUPA,
AXA Health, WPA, Aviva and Vitality Health.
Until 2019 she worked for ten years in an NHS Talking Therapy Service (IAPT) as a High-Intensity Psychotherapist, providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to adults with the whole range of psychological disorders and problems, as well as more everyday problems such as distress of job loss, housing problems, family problems - in fact, distress of any kind.
She first became interested in becoming a Counsellor many years ago when she was herself helped by a Counsellor following a traumatic event in her life. She hoped that one day she would be able to train to offer the same kind of help to others in need. In 1999 she saw a part-time course in Counselling advertised at Harrow College of Further Education and applied. She has never looked back. She knew from the start that this was the work she wanted to do for the rest of her life.
It was a long haul, a four-year diploma during which she had to continue the 'day job' working as an IT professional. After the first two years of training, she began Counselling in Voluntary Sector Counselling Services, including a Carers Centre, a Women's Centre and MIND.
In 2003 Ann received her Counselling Diploma and started her private practice while continuing to work in the voluntary sector. Over the years that followed she offered her services to Signpost Young Person's Counselling Service and Hillingdon Action Group for Addiction Management (HAGAM) which forms part of the Hillingdon Drug and Alcohol Service (HDAS). In 2009 she began working at a Primary Care Counselling Service which later became The Talking Therapies Service, where she continued to work till 2019 as a Psychotherapist, mostly practicing CBT.
From 2004 to 2007 she worked for Parent line Plus as a Telephone Counsellor. The in-house training she received in this role has been invaluable in all her work since, providing her with tools and techniques for helping clients to manage difficult family relationship issues.
In 2007 Ann began her four-year training at the Metanoia Institute - a highly prestigious centre of excellence for Humanistic Oriented Training Programs. Her training was in the MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy. In 2011 she achieved a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy - but did not go on to take the Dissertation and Viva which would have given her the MSc, because she was invited, and chose instead to undertake the one-year intensive IAPT training in High-Intensity CBT.
Ann developed her role in the NHS Talking Therapies Service becoming a senior Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and, in addition to her general psychotherapy practice, she developed a service for patients with autism and learning disabilities.
Throughout this time Ann has managed a Private Practice alongside her NHS work and in 2019 made the change, leaving the service to expand and develop her Private Practice.
